Sovelle makes seven veils. Six of them are on this page, in stock and ready to ship; the seventh, The Golden Hour, is a hand-applied 3D floral style we make to order by request rather than list for sale. Each one answers a different version of the same question: how long, how much detail, and whether you want a layer over your face when you walk in. This page exists to get you from six down to one or two. Every veil here is held in stock in ivory and ships within 3–5 business days; Cream and Champagne are made to order in 2–4 weeks.
Fabric decides more than length does. A clean satin, crepe, mikado, or column gown has an uninterrupted surface, so it carries visible detail without the two competing. This is where The Soft Focus, in scattered pearl, and The Heirloom, with its scalloped lace border, do their best work.
A lace gown is the opposite problem: two lace textures at different scales usually read as busy rather than layered, so the safer pairing is a plain veil that adds length and nothing else: The Barely There has a cut edge with no visible trim for that reason. On a minimal slip dress or a bridal suit, the veil is often the only decorative element in the outfit, so it should be defined rather than invisible.
Cathedral length is built for scale: a long aisle, a church or estate, a formal portrait. Four of the six are cathedral. Fingertip ends around your fingertips with your arms down. A veil moment with nothing to manage behind you, which suits city hall, a garden ceremony, or a day spent moving. Shoulder length reads as reception styling rather than ceremony styling, which is what The Second Look is built for.
A cut edge disappears. A satin ribbon edge draws a clean line around the silhouette. A pearl trim catches light along the border. A scalloped lace border becomes a design element of its own, and on The Close Up it runs across the front as well, so the lace frames your face. The rule that holds most often: the quieter the dress, the more edge detail the veil carries.
A cathedral veil moves: it lifts in wind, trails on stairs, and needs arranging before the aisle. That movement is why it photographs the way it does, but outdoors it is a real logistical choice. A two tier veil like The Clean Line gives you a blusher for the processional, then behaves like a short veil.
Tulle is semi-transparent, so it separates you from the background without hiding anything. In a wide ceremony shot it reads as a second silhouette, giving a plain gown scale it cannot produce alone. In backlight it holds light rather than blocking it, and the edge becomes a line the eye follows.
Close portraits work differently: a veil over the face softens the whole frame, and a lace border frames the face directly. If those matter more than the aisle shot, weight your choice toward detail at the top of the veil rather than length at the bottom.
Every veil on this page is in stock in Ivory; Cream and Champagne are made to order and ship in 2–4 weeks. Orders leave our warehouse within 3–5 business days, and we email you a tracking number the day it ships. Standard shipping is free on every U.S. order and takes another 3–5 business days in transit, so most orders arrive inside two weeks.
Simple satin carries either a plain veil or a detailed one. To keep the dress the focus, choose The Barely There; for texture, The Soft Focus. The pearl veil with a simple wedding dress guide compares them.
Match it to the room: cathedral for formal venues and long aisles, fingertip for smaller ceremonies, shoulder length for receptions. The veil length guide compares them with the actual finished drop of every style, and cathedral vs fingertip covers the two most common finalists.
No. A blusher is the shorter front layer of a two tier veil, worn over the face for the processional and flipped back afterward. Two of our veils have one, and both can be worn with it back all day.
Yes, within 14 days of delivery, unworn, tags attached, in the original packaging. Return shipping is a flat $15 deducted from your refund, and a $20 cleaning fee applies if the veil returns with makeup, perfume, staining, or hair on it. The Golden Hour, our 3D floral style, is made to order and is final sale. If a veil comes back damaged, we email you before we process anything.
